Restaurant Wars: Fat Ricky’s V. Aurelio’s
February 23, 2016
Pizza has a rich history in the world. The word pizza was first documented in 997 AD in Italy, and made its first appearance in the US in the nineteenth century. Since then it has been a go-to meal in American households for years.
This historic battle was between Aurelio’s and Fat Ricky’s, both of which were spinning some fluffy dough.
Once again as food critics Johnny and Jack search for three things when reviewing pizza restaurants; taste, price, and delivery time.
We started by ordering the same pizzas from each restaurant; a medium, half sausage, half cheese, double dough pizza. We placed our orders over the phone at the same time.
Aureilio’s showed up in thirty four minutes, compared to Fat Ricky’s showing up at thirty nine minutes. Now for just the average pizza consumer, five minutes may not mean anything to you, but for us it’s the first thing to go.
The second thing we check is price of the food. As students in high school are always looking for good quality food, at a modest price. Aureilios was outrageous at twenty one dollars for a medium pizza. While Fat Ricky’s was more reasonable at twelve dollars for the pizza.
The last piece of the puzzle and arguably the most important, is the taste. Fat Ricky’s pizza was the first one we tried. The sauce was lacking in taste as was the cheese. The cheese did not stick to the dough at all which made a mess. However Aureilio’s pizza did not lack in taste at all. The sauce was rich and full of flavor. You could taste the tomatoes and different spices in the sauce. The cheese on this pizza tasted freshly shredded and stuck to the crust wonderfully.
We chose the winner of this battle to be Aureilios. They won on two of the three categories. Next battle will be between Volar Mexican restaurant and Front Street Cantina.
