Boys’ basketball looks to end the second half of the season on top and make the playoffs after missing last year.

The boys are currently 11-7 which is three wins off from last season’s 14-16 record.conference Their conference record has improved to a 7-4 record from last seasons 3-6.

This year the team is mostly seniors which gives the advantage of already established chemistry.

“The nice thing about having all seniors is that we know how each other plays,” senior guard Cooper Bridges said. “ We don’t have to figure out how our styles fit together because we know what everyone is good at.”

Also, the boys have seen great improvement in their game, especially on the defensive side. As a team they are averaging 7.1 steals and 3.7 blocks a game which has allowed them to start fastbreaks and score in transition.

“They bought into defense,” varsity coach Bob Krahulik said. “As younger kids, you can get away with relying on offense, but this year they bought into team defense.”

Seniors Colin O’Rourke who is averaging 17.8 points a game and 8.4 rebounds and Cooper Bridges averaging 12.4 points a game lead the team.

“My preparation during the preseason has helped me score the ball well this season,” O’Rourke said.

An uptempo, fast paced style of basketball has been beneficial for the boys, especially when they are in transition.

“A team strength is the speed that we play at,” senior guard Kyle Bragg said. “ We are really good when we can get up and down.”

The senior boys look to leave their legacy with North by performing well in the playoffs and leave their mark on the program.

“We would love to bring home a regional championship for the first time in awhile,” Bridges said. “ Just having a good culture is really important to us.”
