Q: What are both your personal and team goals this season?
I want to focus on improving my passing skills and contributing better to team communication and leadership. I hope to achieve my goal of becoming a better libero, teammate and role model to the other girls.
Q: What expectations have been placed on the team this year?
As a team, winning at the regional level is something we strive for every year, and with everyone putting in the effort, I believe we can make it happen.
Q: How has the transition to libero been?
The transition has been tough. Being the libero is a big role to take on during games. With our previous libero gone, someone had to step into the position. I definitely feel the pressure, especially since it’s my first time as a libero. One thing I’m keeping in mind is that we might encounter some hiccups along the way, and that’s okay. Coach Matt has been a huge help throughout the process. He consistently pushes me to do my best in both practice and games.
Q: What will you miss most when your high school career is over?
I’ll miss the friendships and memories the most. I love all of these girls and together we’ve been through a lot. It’s been a long journey of growth, both as an athlete and a
person. We made bonds throughout the program, and I will miss it so much.
Q: How much has senior leadership impacted the team?
Stepping into the role of a senior has brought a shift in experience compared to my earlier years. The responsibility and influence that comes with the position has opened up new dimensions of interaction and leadership. One of the most rewarding aspects is the opportunity to guide and provide support to our teammates, particularly when it comes to helping their self-assurance and self-belief. The presence of numerous seniors has helped us all to evolve into better leaders and teammates, setting a positive impact for the team’s success and growth, both now and in the future.
Q: What sets this roster apart from previous years?
We faced the departures of three key seniors from our team. Their absences left major gaps in the lineups that required us to adapt and restructure our positions. What stands out on this team is its resilience and adaptability. Despite the loss of those seasoned starters, we’ve managed to step up and take ownership of our new roles, effectively filling the gaps and executing our responsibilities. It’s shown our versatility, our collective commitment to excellence and determination to maintain the level of performance we’ve come to expect.
