You’ve made it to the concert! What happens next? Here are six tips to ensure a great experience for you and the other fans.
Support the openers. Yes, even if they aren’t great. They’re putting themselves out there and doing their best in front of a large crowd. That takes guts, so show your appreciation not just for the headline artist but for music in general.
Respect the performers and others. You’re supposed to have fun, but you’re not supposed to throw things or get physical. Don’t heckle. It’s really rude to interrupt a set, and some artists may get thrown off by it, worsening the experience for everyone in attendance.
Show off your skills. If you feel comfortable with singing along, go ahead. But, there’s a difference between singing and shrieking. Mostly, though, you are there to listen – not talk. If you’re just going to talk, you may as well listen to the albums and talk at home. No one cares about where you parked, the cost of t-shirts or your traffic on the way there.
Don’t over-dramatize it. Swifties, this is for you. Love for the artist is great, but dropping to your knees because a certain song got played or crying because your favorite wasn’t skipped is too much. Don’t cross the line between enjoying yourself and being obnoxious. It’s not about you, as much as you may want it to be.
Keep your height in mind. Remember, you work better as a door than a window. Pay attention to make sure you’re not in everyone’s way. If you’re tall, look down and make sure you’re not trampling anyone, especially if you’re moshing.
Have fun. You spent a lot of money to be there, so go enjoy yourself! Take pictures, and live up the experience to the fullest!
