Junior Casey Sanborn lined up for the state competition for boy’s golf on Oct 6 and .
Sanborn competed on the Den at Fox Creek course in Bloomington after advancing from sectionals at Whitetail Ridge Golf Club. This was Sanborn’s first trip to the state links.
“I am very happy that I made it to state individually, but I would have loved to make it as a team,” Sanborn said.
On day one of the tournament, he shot 11 over par. On day two he shot four over par.
“State was a great experience for me because it helped me prove to myself that I could compete with some of the better players within the state,” Sanborn said.
With his teammates’ support and dedication throughout the season, competing at the state level was Sanborn’s main goal.
“Casey is a really hard worker who deserves a spot at state,” senior Colin Doyle said. “He had a great season as a Junior on varsity and finished his season strong.”
